Sport Ed Ex launches rugby and cricket pathways with Richmond
Through a rugby or cricket pathway, Sport Ed Ex will offer both male and female athletes the opportunity to train, learn and perform in a professional and highly competitive environment supported by highly qualified coaches (led by the Men’s Director of Rugby and USA Men’s 7s Head Coach Mike Friday, Women’s Director of Rugby and former England star and current Harlequin star Rachael Burford and Director of Cricket former England and Surrey star Mark Butcher).
The programme will offer a wide range of regular playing opportunities in the UK, US and beyond to match each athlete’s ability and character.
Sport Ed Ex believe passionately in developing character, resilience, and confidence to enable athletes to fulfil both their sporting and academic potential, creating transferable skills for life.
Director of Men’s Rugby, Mike Friday explained, “I am heavily and emotionally invested in helping the rugby talent within the USA to develop to their full potential. Being able to help create this innovative pathway which enables aspirational players to be immersed in a rugby-rich landscape and benefit from a daily training environment and appropriate individual playing programme, provides these players with the opportunities to push on with their own ambitions, hopefully striving to play for the National teams, be that at XVs or 7’s.”
