United States Postgraduate Scholarships

As the only UK university to offer all students US and UK degrees, we offer a unique benefit, creating more career opportunities for students on both sides of the Atlantic and internationally.

Our scholarships for US students can make a real difference to helping fund your studies. This is your chance to experience a truly specialist and international university in the world’s top student city.

These are merit based and can be combined with your Direct FAFSA Loans, private loans and other sources of personal funding.

Terms & Conditions: 1.The Alumni Award, Masters Recognition of Excellence Award and Masters Recognition of Achievement Award are for Fall 24/Spring 25 entry only and may be subject to change in future intakes. 2.Postgraduate scholarships may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial or scholarship support from the University (the only exception to this is the Sean Steadman scholarship). 3.Richmond has sole discretion to assign, vary or withdraw this award. 4.We reserve the right to adjust the value, volume and eligibility criteria of our scholarships.

United States Government Loans

William D Ford Direct Loan Program:
U.S. citizens and U.S. green card holders may qualify for Stafford loans. To apply you must complete the Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Apply for this loan via the website. Only degree-seeking students (Bachelors & Masters) can use federal (FAFSA) loans.

In the U.S. you can also call 1-8004-FED-AID to request a form. The U.S. Department of Education number for Richmond, The American International University in London is G10594.

Sallie Mae Student Loans
Alot of US students fund their studies through the Sallie Mae Student Loans. There may be some private loans available to American students studying abroad. Private loans are subject to a credit check. Visit the organization website for further details.

The Sean Steadman Art Scholarship

Scholarship Amount
The Sean Steadman Art Scholarship USD $1,000

This is one scholarship available to applicants commencing study at Richmond from January 2021 as well as current students at Richmond from any of the three programmes below, with a minimum 3.0 CGPA.

All applicants for this scholarship should send a submission of 500-1000 words on ‘How the degree programme you are applying for will help you reach your career objectives’, before Friday 27 November 2020, ideally together with some images taken from your portfolio (if relevant). The total sum amount of USD $1,000 will be deducted from tuition fees (one payment only, not for each year of study) and can be used in conjunction with SFE funding.

Sean Steadman was a student at Richmond, graduating in 2014 with a BA in Art & Design and then went into the MA programme in Art History & Visual Culture.
