Dr Mahmoud Shahin

About
Mahmoud Shahin is an Associate Professor at Richmond University. He graduated from Faculty of Economics, University of Aleppo, with a BSc in Banking and Finance. He completed his Masters degree in Money and Banking at University of Exeter Business School. He also holds a PhD in Economics from University of Exeter Business School.

His research interests are mainly focused on theoretical modelling of bank runs and banking and financial crises. In particular, his recent research explores bank profitability and agency problems in the bank-depositors relationship. Moreover, he investigates the design of deposit contracts, liquidity provision and investment portfolios. In addition, he also works on bank lending process and optimal loan contracts. He presents his research papers in various academic seminars. Currently, I am working on publishing my research papers in high-quality journals.

Prior to joining Richmond University in London, Mahmoud has over five years of teaching experience. He has been involved in teaching and assisting in various Economics and Finance courses at undergraduate level. He has been spending most of his teaching career at School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. He had also been working at University of Exeter and University College London (UCL). He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
