In the fast-paced world we live in, finding a sense of inner peace and tranquillity can often feel like an elusive goal. However, there is a path to inner serenity that has been embraced by many, and it’s known as Heartfulness Meditation. I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Charu Sharma, a dedicated faculty member and certified Heartfulness meditation instructor, to explore the depths of this transformative practice.
Charu shared that her journey into Heartfulness Meditation was sparked by a sense of familiarity, as she had always known the feeling deep down but had somehow forgotten it amidst the demands of daily life. Heartfulness, she emphasized, is not about thinking; it’s about feeling. It’s about reconnecting with the forgotten energy that resides within us all.
At its core, Heartfulness Meditation focuses on the heart – not just the physical heart but the metaphorical heart, the seat of our emotions and inner wisdom. Charu described it as a practice that guides you to explore your true self, to tap into the wellspring of wisdom that resides within your heart, and to discover answers that are uniquely tailored to you as an individual.
During a Heartfulness Meditation session, Charu advises participants to imagine a source of light within their hearts. It’s a simple yet powerful act of sitting with that inner light and patiently waiting for something to happen. This is what she calls “metafocus.” It’s about training yourself to find that spot of pure stillness and nothingness, a place where the mind becomes calm and the heart opens up.
Charu acknowledged that one of the more challenging aspects of explaining Heartfulness is the concept of universal love, the idea that love can be redirected and transferred from one heart to another. It’s a practice of sharing positive energy and goodwill with others.
As Charu passionately expressed, Heartfulness Meditation is an investment in oneself. In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to neglect self-care. Yet, Charu wisely pointed out that if we don’t make time for practices like Heartfulness, time will have nothing to offer us in return.
Charu enthusiastically recommended Heartfulness Meditation to students, recognizing the weight of the academic journey and the constant stream of thoughts that often accompany it. She highlighted that students can easily access Heartfulness through the free Heartfulness app. With this app, students can connect with a global community of meditators, sharing their practice and energy with others, no matter where in the world they may be.
In conclusion, Heartfulness Meditation is not merely a journey; it’s a profound gift to yourself. Whether you’re a student striving to balance academics, the challenges of independence, and homesickness or anyone seeking a path to inner peace and self-discovery, Heartfulness Meditation beckons you to embark on a journey into the serene depths of your heart.
It offers a way to manage stress, improve mental health, and find solace in the midst of life’s chaos. So, heed Charu’s advice and take those first steps toward your own transformative journey through Heartfulness Meditation. Your heart, mind, and well-being will thank you for it.
